Rhode ISland Red and Brahma Chickens

Egg-Laying Ladies of 7 Anubis Farms

Our flock is a lively mix of heritage charm and barnyard brilliance. The Rhode Island Reds are our dependable dynamos—hardy, curious, and prolific layers of rich brown eggs. Brahmas, with their gentle nature and feathered feet, bring a touch of elegance to the coop while steadily producing through colder months. And our mixed-breed hens? They’re the surprise artists—each one a unique blend of personality and plumage, laying eggs in shades and sizes that keep breakfast interesting.

Whether purebred or barnyard blend, these hens are raised with care, sunshine, and plenty of room to scratch and strut. Their eggs are more than food—they’re a daily gift from happy birds living their best lives.

Just like us, hens have seasons in life. After a few hardworking years of gifting us eggs, their laying slows and eventually stops. At 7 Anubis Farms, we honor each hen’s contribution—whether she laid daily or simply strutted with style. When egg production dips, we gently retire older hens and introduce new pullets to keep the flock thriving and the egg basket full. It’s part of responsible, sustainable flock management: balancing care, productivity, and stewardship. They are respectfully processed to be used as stew chickens, ensuring nothing goes to waste. Every decision is made with transparency and gratitude—for the animal, the land, and the community we serve.

Fresh eggs come from fresh layers, and our flock is always evolving with intention and heart.

Cornish Cross on Pasture: Big Birds with Big Flavor

Cornish Cross chickens aren’t your average barnyard birds—they’re the result of a carefully crafted cross between a Cornish rooster (built like a linebacker) and a White Plymouth Rock hen (known for her sturdy frame and good laying habits). Together, they create a hybrid that grows fast, fills out beautifully, and delivers that classic plump roast chicken we all know and love.

But here’s the twist: you can’t just breed two Cornish Crosses and get more of the same. These birds are first-generation hybrids, meaning their super-speedy growth and meaty build come from the magic of that original cross—not from passing traits down the line.

These hefty hens may be bred for speed, but here at 7 Anubis Farms, we believe even the fast-growing folks deserve a good life. Our Cornish Cross chickens spend their days waddling through pasture like little feathered tanks—gobbling grass, chasing bugs, and soaking up sunshine like it’s their job (which, frankly, it is).

Sure, they’re not the most graceful gals in the flock, but what they lack in finesse, they make up for in flavor. Raised on pasture with plenty of fresh air and forage, they grow up strong, happy, and downright delicious. You can taste the difference in every juicy bite—because a bird raised with care is a bird worth savoring.
