General
When ordering a whole or half hog, it’s important to understand how weight affects pricing and the amount of meat you’ll take home.
• Live Weight: The hog’s weight before processing.
• Hanging Weight: After dressing (head, hide, and organs removed), usually 60–70% of live weight. (This is what we use for pricing.)
• Packaged Weight: The final weight of the meat after cutting, trimming, and removing bones and excess fat—typically 60–65% of hanging weight.
Example for a Whole Hog:
Live Weight: 250lbs.
Hanging Weight: 175-225lbs.
Packaged Weight: 100-140lbs
Why does the final price vary?
Each hog is unique in size, and your final total is calculated after we confirm the exact hanging weight.
